In January 2023 a group of students beloging to to The University of New Mexico's Community & Regional Planning Program were tasked by Bernalillo County Planning & Development Services to draft a series of reccomendations to improve the alleyways in Albuquerque's International District. The purpose of the project was to develop a holisitic repository of data, community feedback, and planning strategies that could translate to a series of reccomendations instrumental in creating a comprehensive master plan for the International District and surrounding areas. Throughout the Spring of 2023 this repository took shape, its findings and reccomendations can be found here as the International District Redevelopment & Alleyway Project (IDRAP).
The University of New Mexico Community & Regional Planning Department is committed to the redevelopment of Albuquerque's International District. We strive to develop and utilize safe & clean alleyways, while engaging and encouraging community involvement and contributions. Our mission is to provide stewardship of the International District's alleyways, increasing walkability, safety, beautification, purpose, livability, and fostering an inclusive and vibrant atmosphere.
